Meeting Number 6 - Thursday 9th November 06
First of all an update on the Gibson banner:
It had been hoped that the banner would have been finished and making its first appearance at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday November 11th during the West Ham game, but unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control this target is no longer possible.
Once the banner is finished, and has passed all the necessary safety checks it will make its first appearance - hopefully for the Liverpool home game on Saturday November 18th, but that target date will be confirmed once we know for definite.
It was also decided that due to the changes to the original design, it would be best if the design was not put onto the website until we have the finished article and photo's would be released in due course.
The main topic of the evening was the Boro Quiz night which is taking place on Tuesday 14th November at the Falcon pub in Hilton. Mainly with regards to how the tickets are to be sold and raffle tickets.
All the details are on the homepage: www.twe12thman.co.uk
The tickets are priced at £3 per person and raffle tickets at £1 per strip.
Among the raffle prizes are a signed Boro shirts and a DVD kindly donated by Middlesbrough Football Club.
If you would like to enquire how to get hold of tickets which will be sold strictly on a first come first serve basis then email us for the details contactus@twe12thman.co.uk
A donation is to be made out of the proceeds to Teesside Hospice on behalf of the Twe12th Man - the charity chosen by the Falcon and a charity endorsed by Middlesbrough Football Club.
The group will be drawing up a manifesto in the coming weeks to provide a list of aims of the group. This will give people who are unaware of our work an idea of what we are trying to do and how they can help
We will be shortly be moving to a new website and progress on this was ongoing even as the meeting took place!!
Emails:
During the meetings we read the emails we have received through the course of the month since the previous meeting, filled with ideas, opinions, feed back with regards to events that have taken place or that are being planned, and feed back with regards to previous meetings that have been summarised at www.twe12thman.co.uk.
First of all "Stuart" emailed to add his support in favour of a drum being used to try to lift the atmosphere and in turn have a constant noise when the crowd in low in volume.
The idea was still split with the group as in previous months, with some feeling quite strongly it would be more of a nuisance noise than an encouragement.
"David" Emailed in after seeing football Italia on bravo in which he had noticed short plastic flags, and thought that it would be a good idea for us to produce our own to hand out to the crowd for the good visual effect that would be the result. He also suggested ways of funding which included sponsorship on the flags by companies that could meet the production costs.
This idea was well received by the group and will definitely be considered when planning future events.
"Craig in Manchester" Put an idea forward for the use of ticker tape to create a cheap and good visual display like the Charlton fans did last season in the FA cup
This too was well received by the group and will be taken into consideration when planning future events.
"Graeme" emailed to say that he and his daughter enjoyed the Singing section for the Notts County cup game. Even though they were not sat in it, he says it really did improve the atmosphere and that he then went on to the reserve game against Manchester United because he enjoyed it so much - this time taking his wife and son too.
"Andy" emailed to add his weight to the people sick of pig bag and put "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC as his preferred choice. He also feels that music after a goal is scored should be stopped as the crowd creates enough of its own noise without the need for music.
"Colin" Feels that the singing block could be introduced into more matches. And also feels that the matches being shown live on foreign channels in pubs should be stopped.
We are looking into an idea that was raised during the meeting with regards to trying to create an atmosphere that included stands singing back to each other. One concern raised about this was the distance in between the stands - whether the gap in between the stands "singing back" would be too great for it to work and sound like it could do.
We would like to thank all of you for emailing us and also for the other emails received that we have not mentioned within this summary. All emails will receive a personal reply in due course.
The next meeting is taking place on Thursday December 14th from 7pm in Dr Browns, everyone is welcome
